Vegetarian, and
not an afterthought.
Most of the mezze on our menu was vegetarian long before anyone asked for a vegetarian menu. Chickpeas, eggplant, bulgur, herbs, olive oil. Here is what to order and how to keep it vegan.
A lot of restaurants answer “do you have anything vegetarian?” with a side salad. Levantine food does not have that problem: half of it never had meat in it to begin with.
What to order
- Falafel sandwich, $8.99 — chickpea fritters, hummus, pickles, lettuce, tomato, tahini.
- Falafel bowl, $11.99 — rice, salad, sauce and three toppings you pick.
- Falafel Arabic Style plate, $11.99 — the full plate, with bread and sides.
- Hummus and baba ganoush — chickpea and roasted eggplant, both with pita.
- Tabbouleh and fattoush — bulgur and herbs; and lettuce with toasted bread and sumac.
- Grape leaves and lentil soup — rice-stuffed vine leaves, and a thick lentil soup.
Keeping it vegan
The falafel is chickpeas, herbs and spices — no egg, no dairy. Two things to change when you order:
- Skip the garlic sauce, which contains dairy. Ask for tahini instead; it is sesame and lemon.
- Skip the tzatziki and the mozzarella on anything that comes with them.
Falafel is fried in its own oil, and the rotisserie and spit are separate equipment. If your requirement is strict, call us and we will walk you through exactly how your order is made.
Feeding a mixed group
This is the actual reason people call us: one person is vegetarian, two want beef, somebody's kid will only eat chicken tenders. One tray of falafel and one tray of shawarma side by side solves it, and nobody is eating a compromise. Mezze trays serve 10 to 12 from $34.99. Ask for a catering quote.
